So they’ll be in at 8:30 probably smelling like weed," Gaines said. It’s too bad because the place is beautiful and could be good."He would make jokes off of your last name, he would go check the reservation book, he would say ‘Oh we got a Jenkins coming in at 7:30, that’s CPT: colored people time. If you’re a sophisticated diner skip this place!! We were dressed up and other diners were kids or people in sweat suits and ball caps. We were literally waving at them and calling out, “please!” “excuse me!?” And they just walked in front of us and ignored us!!! Waste of a couple hundred dollars. He couldn’t be bothered to bring us bread, silverware, anything. I think he was upset we didn’t want to hear his whole spiel and watch him squeeze the meats in his show & tell demo- We are seniors and have bern around. He told me a Trefethen Chard was oaked which I knew was false- he didn’t know what he was doing, but he was so busy gassing to other people. The bison tenderloin was horrible and I’ve eaten it at The Hotel Jerome in Aspen so I know what I’m talking about. Our waiter actually gave WRONG information about the food and wine- he was always busy lecturing people but he didn’t know his stuff. without WATER or bread and later, with food and no utensils, while we tried to flag someone down – We sat and watched servers walk back-and-forth while we sat. Our waiter and his helper ignored us after initial greeting. We were excited, because the place is physically beautiful. I have dined at fine steak houses all over the US & this was the worst. My wife and I expected more out of a restaurant that had survived through covid and the Pittsburgh restaurant scene and left disappointed but having had a good time with our friends. It was a nice portion of a good looking desert but unfortunately it was very dry and over-cooked. For desert we decided to share the chocolate cake recommended by the server. I had hope for some rich flavors but instead got something that while it tasted ok was reminiscent of an ordinary pot roast. My osso buco was ok certainly nothing to write home about especially priced at $65.00. And although she she said her steak was cooked well done, I looked over and I could see a small section of bright red meat, when you order a steak from an expensive steakhouse you expect it to be 1. swimming on this large plate with little else to occupy the plate. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and its views of the Gateway Center and were having a great time with our friends when the food arrived, Darlene's steak looked like a large dried fig. We were seated promptly and our server was attentive and did an excellent job taking our drink and food orders, Darlene ordered the petite filet well done with a Ceasar salad. My wife and I dined with another couple at Eddie merlot's on Saturday night. Next time, we’ll select one of those More Pittsburgh is noted for great restaurants. They looked as if they were purchased at a local supermarket and served out of a plastic container. The potatoes were tepid, the filet was not a good cut of meat, the crab was minuscule and the shrimp were very bland, no seasoning. We opted for a 6oz filet, shrimp, crab and fingerling potatoes. While the appetizer was very good, the entree was disappointing. Meanwhile, guests who arrived after us had finished their dinner. A few times, we were advised that it would only be a few moments more. However, we waited nearly an hour after the appetizer was finished and our entree arrived. When one was not offered, we had to ask for one. Along with our cocktails, we expected a bread basket. Our drink order was promptly noted by our server. we been given a choice of dining venues, we would have opted for the dining room as the bar area was quite noisy. Whenwe were leaving, we popped into the dining room. Upon arrival, the hostess directed us to tables adjacent to the bar. This was our first visit to this restaurant. We had dinner at Eddies Merlot while on a business trip to Pittsburgh.
